Description Description

Scarborough Fair has two large master suites and a loft featuring two twin beds!

Nestled on the northeastern slopes of Grandfather Mountain, the log cabin home sits on a beautiful 1.3 acre lot that is set back from the road.  You’ll enter through a tranquil archway of trees, and you’ll be delighted by the beautiful views and backyard oasis that awaits once you explore the property. The private, secure, and gated community is bounded on one side by Grandfather Mountain and on the other by Julian Price Memorial Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just minutes from downtown Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Linville, and the Parkway, the location is convenient to golf resorts, shopping, Appalachian State University, Tweetsie Railroad, fine restaurants, ski resorts, horseback riding, fly fishing, and hiking on Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge, Pisgah National Forest and the Julian Price and Moses Cone Parks. It's the perfect location for all your favorite High Country activities...including curling up on the screened porch to nap in the hammock.

This cabin has been lovingly cared for by its owners, who regularly update and renovate the property – most recently by transforming the backyard in 2021 with wonderful, new amenities.  Guests will be greeted by a second deck off the lower bedroom, a huge entertaining space centered around a custom-built fire pit, and an open treehouse large enough for adults and children.  The backyard also features gorgeous new landscaping, a tire swing, a secret hiking loop that will delight the children, and a small amphitheater / reading space that is perfect for sketching or simply admiring the surrounding woods.  Custom lighting and railings for the backyard entertaining space are scheduled for installation during the spring of 2022.

The cabin itself has approximately 2,000 square feet on three levels with 2 large, master bedrooms, a sleeping loft, 2 full baths, living room and dining area with vaulted ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, wireless internet, and a covered front porch with rocking chairs and a porch swing. The large, rear deck offers year round views of Hawksnest Mountain from the large Jacuzzi-brand hot tub located just outside the master bedroom.

A screened porch off the main living area and adjacent to the open deck is fully furnished with a small table for eating or gaming, as well as Adirondack chairs, director's chairs, a rope hammock, and a hammock chair.

The main living area, beautifully furnished with heart pine floors and a cathedral ceiling, has a large sofa, 2 side chairs, a 40" flat screen LCD television with 250 channels as well as a Roku player, a stereo, a library stocked with paperback and hardback books and hiking/tourist maps and a selection of games and puzzles, a stone wood burning fireplace and a drop leaf game table. As part of the grand room, the dining area's large pine table has seating for 8. The loft has two twin beds and overlooks the main living area.

The upstairs master bedroom has a new queen bed with a Casper mattress. The sitting area in the master bedroom opens to sliding French doors affording a wonderful view of Hawksnest beyond the deck with the hot tub. The lower-level master bedroom features a four-poster  queen bed, a queen sized futon, a sitting area with a TV, a folding game table and chairs, private deck, and private bath. Also on the lower level is the laundry facility. There is a full bath on both the main and lower levels.  Although it is rarely, if ever, needed, both master bedrooms are equipped with new window-unit air conditioners during the summer months.  The fresh mountain breeze keeps the home comfortably cool year-round.

This home was featured in the November 2008 issue of Log Home Design Magazine.

Whether you are looking for an exciting, energetic High Country adventure or are wanting to enjoy the peaceful serenity of a mountain home for a while, Scarborough Fair fits the bill. Come enjoy, relax, and regenerate- you'll be glad you did!

Road access to the cabin is maintained year-round and the driveway is level with a large parking area. The 4,200 foot elevation makes for cool summers and cold, snowy winters, so a 4WD/AWD vehicle is recommended year round, and chains are absolutely required during winter (November-April).

Looking to stay longer during a quieter time of year? Stays of 5 or 6 nights outside of summer, fall, and holiday dates automatically receive 10% off posted rates!

The cabin was clean and comfortable! There was plenty of room for our family of five, and the bonus was that it's a pet friendly cabin so we got to bring our dog with us! When I had questions about the cabin, the host responded very quickly with a solution or an answer, and we appreciate that so much! The surroundings of the cabin were beautiful! The grounds were very well kept, and there were plenty of privacy. Highly recommend this place! :)

Loved it and ready to go back!
There was nothing we didn’t love. The property and location was perfect and beautiful. The tree house was so key with kids! The outdoor space with fire pit was heavenly. Inside was comfy, super clean, and very well stocked and taken care of. We loved it! Perfect for our family of 5 with 3 kids.

We chose this property because of the treehouse
We chose this property because of the treehouse and it did not disappoint. My granddaughter described our vacation as magical :) The house was very clean, the bathrooms were spotless and the hot tub was well maintained. Grocery store was very close and they had firewood available there. The road up to the house was a bit of a surprise and we were thankful there was not any snow or ice. It's a very long, winding road up to the top of the mountain. We had a super comfortable stay with no complaints.

Cozy Getaway
This cabin is a very cozy place for 1 or 2 couples and kids to get away. Beautiful view with a well-maintained hot-tub, fire pit, and tree house.

Scarborough Fair: A Great Place to Get Away
The owners are very thoughtful in providing items throughout the house to make the stay more pleasurable. We stayed in this cabin in 2015 and again in 2021. Well maintained and improvements have been made with the lower porch, firepit, and treehouse. Although, we do not have younger children, this house would be a great place to be. Especially like the background of the construction by looking at the blueprints framed on the wall. The view is outstanding and the house is in a very private location.

Our stay at Scarborough Fair was so enjoyable. The mountain home is so cozy and comfortable! We loved the view from the back porch, walking the property grounds, and warming up in the hot tub. The new additions of the lower back porch, the firepit, tree house and the tire swing are really nice. There are so many enjoyable hikes available

Our stay at Scarborough Fair was great. Screened in porch and upper deck was very relaxing. Hesitant about booking due to no AC but had a very nice breeze coming through in the afternoon that kept the cabin cool. Great location and also a big plus that it is pet friendly

This was a wonderful stay for my wife and I. Great view, isolated, great internet, great relaxation. A deer came up to the porch our first night. View is good, and we enjoyed spending time reading on the porch. AAA+ property. Highly recommend. We went in summer. Winter might be dicey without four wheel drive.

perfect mountain trip!
We had a wonderful trip to the mountains for Memorial Day weekend and we loved this cabin! The house felt very personalized (we love that it's a family home), the hot tub was awesome, hammock and screened porch a bonus, dog-friendly, lots of kitchen essentials already there (salt, pepper, sugar, etc), comfy beds, and the kids loved the lofted bedroom area. We hiked the nearby Otter Falls trail and also rode the Alpine roller coaster. Could use some updated kitchen tools (spatulas and such) but we had a wonder time and we definitely plan to return!

What a great place to stay for our hiking weekend with friends. It was one of the nicest cabins we have rented in the area. The cabin was clean (including the hot tub) and decorated beautifully. We hope to stay there again in the future.

What a lovely home! The home is so comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen supplies and we cooked most of our meals at the house. The property is a nice distance from both Grandfather Mountain/Blue Ridge Pkwy and Boone. The hot tub worked perfectly and kept it's temp - just perfect after a long day of hiking and flyfishing in the cold rivers! The large kitchen table was perfect for meals and playing card games. I would highly recommend this property. We couldn't have been more pleased and if we are back in the area I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect relaxing stay in the mountains. House was very cozy and well appointed. Loved having a fireplace for cozy evenings. Greatly enjoyed the outdoor hot tub which felt like it was in the middle of the forest. Would stay again. As we were forewarned by the rental agency, the last bit of the road in can get a bit tricky after a lot of rain or snow, so do be prepared. The agency was very responsive to all communications and questions.

Always a positive experience with BRMR
We have rented from BRMR over a dozen times with a different cabin each time and they are always clean, well appointed and over deliver for the price. BRMR is easy to work with and the staff is very professional, and we will continue to book with them for future vacations.

AWESOME FAMILY VACATION
Our entire family enjoyed the stay here. It was for the kids to ski for the first time and just great to come back to the cabin, start a fire, either get in the hot tub or watch a movie.

PRETTY VIEWS
Two weeks at Scarborough Fair in July was everything we wanted it to be! Every bit as beautiful as the pictures and then some! I was pleasantly surprised by the well manicured garden in the front yard. A pretty view from the back deck that with a bit of tree trimming would be at amazing. Being so far up the mountain (10 minutes from the bottom) left us comfortable without A/C around the clock. The location on Grandfather Mountain was perfectly placed between Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk along with all of your mountain vacation activities! I would most definitely stay here again!

RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE
I really had a very great experience at the Scarborough Mountain Home . They had everything I needed even though I ended up bringing things I thought they didn't have like radio ,games, towels ,rags, seasoning ,dish liquid ,Etc. It was an all-girls trip this time and they were very surprised at what the home had to offer and I loved it I would recommend it to anyone with no questions. They all are ready to go back

AN ENCHANTED FEEL
We so enjoyed our stay at Scarborough Fair!! The cabin is so cozy and comfortable. Our group of 8 had plenty of room and enjoyed the time we spent on the property. The hammock got a lot of use, as did the front porch swing and rockers! The setting gives the cabin such an enchanted feel, and we hope to return very soon!! The staff at BRMR was great, as always!!

CABIN AND SETTING WERE BEAUTIFUL
Wanted to pass on that we had an incredible time at Scarborough Fair this weekend. The cabin and setting were beautiful. We were past college friends, all originally from Arizona, but now scattered through the East and South and found Banner Elk the perfect time to meet up. We plan on doing it again next year! Please pass along our thanks to the owners and additional thanks for being so dog-friendly!

WONDERFUL AND MEMORABLE
My husband and I recently rented a home through Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. They were extremely efficient, informative, and concerned that our family have an enjoyable stay. I could not have asked anymore from an agency. We also found their pictures and descriptions of their homes to be very truthful and accurate. Our family has rented from them prior to this and we will choose them again for our summer rentals. On Sunday we called to ask for garbage pick up even before we checked out and a truck arrived immediately. The property that we rented was very clean and well equipped for cooking in if you chose to. All equipment was in proper working order and amenities were as described. Our home was named Scarborough Fair. It was a lovely representation of the quality of homes that Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals handles. The home was decorated tastefully and with an eye to comfort and homeyness. In the words of our eight year old grandson, Nanny this house is awesome! We are so grateful to the Blue Ridge folks for helping to make our visit to the High Country wonderful and memorable.

CHARMING CABIN
Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed your charming cabin. We came to Boone for our oldest sons graduation at ASU. We are so thankful to have celebrated such a special event at such a special place. We too custom built our home so we see and appreciate all the details that you poured into your cabin. We realize its not an easy process but is all worth it in the end. Thank you for trusting to put it and all your loving details to the public rental. It is charming to enjoy. Our favorites: the gorgeous fireplace, the long farmhouse table, the high quality hot tub.
