Had a great time at Bucky's Hideaway in Todd. Lots of tubing, kayaking, day trips to Virginia Creeper Trail and West Jefferson. House isn't fancy but has all that you need for a secluded and peaceful visit including great wifi.

Bucky's Hideaway was nestled in the woods high on a hill overlooking the New River - a comfortable stay in this rustic cabin with a well stocked kitchen, the living room had big windows, and a lovely deck with rocking chairs to enjoy the river and the woods. Very convenient to Rivergirl's Fly Fishing & Bike rental shop and the Railroad Grade Road/Trail for biking. We look forward to another visit some day soon.

Private mountain home
Bucky's Hideaway was clean, private, and very comfortable. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, including a blender. It was true to what was advertised about the home. Great visit to the mountains. We enjoyed listening to the New River flowing close by.

Family Mountain Weekend
Our family of 6 had a great time at Bucky's Hideaway. The large living room was so nice and the AC worked perfectly. The house was clean and had everything you could want/need. You can hear and (slightly) see the river from the porch- I'm sure the views would be even better in the winter. We hope to go back soon! Note- no cell signal at the property or anywhere in the surrounding area of Todd but the wifi and TV package were great! The GPS leads you to the cabin that shares a driveway so make sure you stay to the right after crossing the bridge.

A nice stay for sure! The cabin had everything we needed (except coffee, make sure and bring your own!). We loved sitting on the deck and the beds and cabin were comfy and cozy. Not something that bothered us much, but you do have to walk through a bedroom in order to get to either of the bathrooms. We would stay again!

A SLICE OF HEAVEN
The directions at the very end need to be updated and the gate lock will jam up on you, especially if you don’t position the key properly but those are the only things which will discourage you about this place. Yes, it’s not modern or up-to-date but why do you need those things? This place allows you to sip on coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night without any disturbance of tranquility. The river is a perfect mid point to enjoy kayaking or tubing, jumping out at the bridge grabbing a bite to eat and jumping back in. The general store around the corner is ideal and if you want to grab dinner you are 12.5 miles from Boone or West Jefferson. Perfect couple(s) retreat to just break away from it all.

2018 TUBING TRIP
Great location near River Girl Tubing. Enjoyed the back porch and river view (somewhat obscured by foliage but still nice). Would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.

PRIVACY AND SERENE SURROUNDINGS
This was quite the perfect place for my family. Kitchen was a cooks dream of having the right utensils, pots and pans. Loved the large tv and sitting in living room. The lazy boy chair could use replacing. Loved the outdoor deck even though we were confronted with some weird sulphur smell. My family had a great time and we all agreed we could definitely book again. Thanks for providing us a safe and comfortable place.

FANTASTIC HIDEAWAY
We really enjoyed our stay in Buckys Retreat. The cabin was very clean and well kept. The layout was comfortable and functional. Once we entered the gate at the road and crossed the bridge we felt like we were on our own private mountain retreat. The property was close to all of the attractions in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. The only surprise we had, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, was how low the bridge is crossing the river. There was some concern about the amount of rain that was falling and the river rising which could cause access/egress issues. We didn't have any of these issues and the little amount that the river did rise didn't even come close to causing any issues. I would definitely stay in this property again if we make it back to this area.

ENJOYED THE MOUNTAIN GETAWAY
This house has great location for anyone wanting to stay near Boone and not be right in the middle of town. We had a great weekend getaway tubing down the New River at Wahoos River Adventures (5 mins away). The house was very clean and had every feature listed. The only disappointment was the grill, which we had planned to cook steaks on. It had sitting water in the bottom of it and didn’t seem safe to cook out of. Otherwise, we would highly suggest the house to anyone...just bring your own grill!

VERY PRIVATE HOUSE IN THE WOODS
We stayed here this weekend and enjoyed our time. The house was neat and clean and the kitchen had all that we needed. It is not an updated house with fancy bathrooms or kitchen, but it was well kept up. We have never stayed at a mountain cabin that is so private. There are no neighbors that you can see or hear, just the sound of the river below and the birds singing. The thing that surprised us and that isn't mentioned anywhere is the wooden bridge that we had to drive over each time we left the house. It is quaint, but It is right over the river and we were concerned that with the forecast calling for a lot of rain, we might find ourselves unable to leave the house if the river rose too high. Other than that, it was a really nice location and we wished we'd brought our kayaks since it would have been easy to use on that river. Thank you for sharing your house with us!
